Bangkok’s newest addition to its public transportation network is the Airport Rail Link (ARL). It conveniently transits from Suvarnabhumi airport to downtown Bangkok within only 30 minutes, covering a distance of 28 kilometers.
The partially elevated rail link ends at the terminal station Phaya Thai which has an interchange with the BTS skytrain.
Along the way from Suvarnabhumi to Phaya Thai, the airport rail link stops at 6 other stations, namely Rajprarop Station, Makkasan Station, Ramkhamhaeng Station, Hua Mark Station, Thab Chang Station, and Lad Krabang Station.
Makkasan station also has an interchange with Bangkok’s MRT metro.
Commuting from Bangkok’s airport to downtown Bangkok has never been more convenient.
The ticket fare – how much does it cost?
Every Airport Rail Link station has been installed with automatic token dispensers that will calculate the fare according to your current station to your destination station.
As with Bangkok’s MRT metro, the ticketing machine is equipped with a touchscreen and a user-friendly interface making the purchase of a ticket very simple. Both coins and notes are accepted.
